He wasn’t starting a Huffington Post–meets–something-or-other Internet company, nor would he be founding a nebulous PR consulting firm, nor would he be retreating to academia to meditate on the future of media.

Pivot certainly has ambitious plans, with a programming slate anchored by more than 300 hours of original programming for its first year. That includes an original scripted comedy (Please Like Me, created by 25-year-old comedian Josh Thomas); an original variety show (HitRECord, from Joseph Gordon-Levitt and and Brian Graden); and a docu-talk series exec produced and hosted by Meghan McCain, John McCain’s daughter.

Originally from Illinois, Graden joined MTV Networks in 2000 as Executive Vice President, Programming. In his current roles, Graden oversees the both the digital media and programming aspects of MTV, MTV2, CMT, VH1, and LOGO. He ultimately is the final voice when green-lighting a project.
